SCULPTURES

The Buddha is well represented in many iconographic forms. Along with many Buddha statues and images, Buddha Heads have been one of the most popular iconographic representations of the Buddha and his characteristics. A round, youthful, charming and sweet looking face is a typical characteristic of the head of Buddha but there are more to them than what meets the eye. Regarded as one of the most important parts of the body of the Buddha, Buddha heads are crafted so as to represent the vast wealth of knowledge he possesses being the awakened one. The Buddha head statues are taken as the objects of great significance in Buddhism and by the followers of the religion. But this does not mean that the Buddha heads carry only religious significance as they possess much other significance in anyone's life. These sculptures also act as great objects of decoration of anyone's surroundings as they radiate the feeling of peace and calm around you. Along with the beautification of the surroundings, they spread the influence of peace and harmony around anyone's life.

Chinese legendary creatures ( also called Imperial guardians ) are a common representation of the dragon, lion or tiger in imperial China. The concept which originated and became popular in Chinese Buddhism, subsequently spread to other parts of Asia including, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and other Asian countries. Since the introduction of the creatures symbolism from the ancient Asian culture especially through Buddhist symbolism, statues of guardian creatures have traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, temples or homes with their wide-open mouths as if they are roaring, which signified that the place they were guarding was an important one and certainly gave pause to anyone about to enter. These statues have also become a favorite of decorators in the West and have been widely used in other artistic contexts or modern garden design. The statues in our gallery are specially reclaimed all the way from China and other Asian countries and most of them are rare and antique ones.
